One of the most tragic stories in the Bible is that of David andAbsalom.  Absalom longed for his father's approval. David longed for the respect of his son. In the end, war came between the two, and one lost his life, while the other lost any chance for reconciliation. In this session, we'll explore the dynamics of family relationships and why some battles are worth fighting.

A full 50% of all marriages will end in divorce.  50% of those will end within the first 2 Years.  As Christians, our marriage / divorce rate is about the same.  The key to a lasting marriage is learning the skills to be a better spouse and applying the principals of Christ love to our mate. 

The bible teaches that our entire life is built upon what we believe in our heart.  Many times, in attempting to build our life on authentic faith in Christ, we have actually built it based on circumstantial faith.  We base our faith on our ability to see God in our circumstances.  This is dangerous ground to be on because the moment we can’t find God in a certain situation, our faith falters and so does all that we have built on it.  We must learn to trust God even when we are unable to see him in our circumstances or situations.

Navigation is an easy thing to mess up, but it is based on a really simple strategy; know where you are, know where you are going and connect the dots.  In life this simple approach isn’t always so easy.  Although we tend to be keenly aware of where we are, we are often not so up to speed on where we are going.  Without an understanding of our desired destination, where can never truly get somewhere on purpose.

We all have the desire to be loved and to be loved unconditionally.  People have spent their entire lives looking for that kind of love only to come up short.  Others have tried to use possessions, achievements, or addictions to fill the void where that love should be.  The good news is that the love we are looking for is actually looking for us.  God offers each of us an unconditional, love filled relationship.  All we have to do is accept it.

Churches are all presented with the temptation to stray from the path that God has laid out and begin to follow the “me” path and what “I” think is best.  As we move into our new facility, we must be ever mindful of the fact that this is God’s church, His project, and we must stay faithful to the calling He has placed on us as a church.
